VESAK DAY or BUDDHA DAY

 VESAK DAY or BUDDHA DAY
==================
 All my Dhamma Brothers and sisters, 24.05.2013, according to Myanmar Buddhist calendar, is the full moon day of VESAK (May, Visakapunnama). Vesak or Visaka is a pali word. It is the name of this month. Every month has their respective name such as Cittarapunnamar, Vesakapunnamar, Jetthapunnamar, Asallapunnamar, kattikapunnamar and so on.
 The Vesaka day is very important for Buddhist People and Buddhist society, because it is relating with our Lord Buddha’s birth day (the Buddha was born in this full moon day of VESAKA), the day of attending enlightenment (the Buddha got the Knowledge of All Knowing) and the day of passing away, (the Buddha demise into Mahaparinibana). So it is also called Buddha day.
The Buddha was born at 626 BC, in this full moon day of Vesaka (May). As we know, at the age of 16, he got married with Yasodara Princess, and had a son, Yahula. At the age of 29, he renounced the world (gone into forest) to search for the True and practiced various kinds of ways for Six years.
At the age of 35, he attained the knowledge of enlightenment as an all knowing one at 588 BC, in this full moon day of Vesaka (May). After attained the Buddha hood, he preached the Dhamma for the welfare of Gods and men about 45 years.
  At the age of 80, he passed away into Mahaparinibana at 543 BC, in this full moon day of Vesaka (May). Therefore this full moon day of Vesaka (May) is very important for the Buddhist people all around the world.  To upgrade the role of Buddhism toward the Global society, we, Buddhist, should try to know about Buddha and his teachings. If only we know clearly about Buddha and his teachings, we could promote the role of Buddhism in Global Society. That is why; I would like to request all of you to study about Buddha and Dhamma. The essence of Buddha's teaching is "not to do any evils, to do the good deeds, to get rid of impurities in our mind.
